Many universities coordinate applications for popular undergraduate courses using the dialogue-oriented service procedure (DoSV) provided by hochschulstart.de. Uni-assist cooperates with hochschulstart.de in order for you to easily apply for some of these courses. Meanwhile, not all courses or Universities need the services of uni-assist. In other words, some courses are only applied through hochschulstart.

In most cases, the best way to find out the mode of application to any course is by visiting the university website or contacting the university. This helps you know how to proceed with your application correctly.

if a university procedure is for candidates to apply through uni-assist and hochschulstart.de then follow the procedure below:

How to Apply to hochschulstart.de (DoSV)

The identification number consists of two parts:

  1. BID (Applicant ID, “Bewerber-ID”) and
  2. BAN (Applicant authentication number, “Bewerber-Authentifizierungs-Nummer”).

APPLICATION

After registering, apply via the standard uni-assist procedure using the uni-assist online portal for your chosen course. There will be an option to enter a valid BID and BAN provided by hochschulstart.de.

See: Uni-assist – Everything you need to know

uni-assist forwards all applications with a positive evaluation result to the universities.

Important: BID and BAN need to be current and valid. If you have any questions or problems, please contact hochschulstart

You can always log into dosv.hochschulstart.de at any time using your BID and BAN to track the status of your applications. When accepted into more than one course, after you have made your selection, all other admissions offers will immediately deactivate.

However, if the university procedure of application is to apply only through hochschulstart.de then all the registration and processing is done at https://dosv.hochschulstart.de/ alone.
